Music Sunday - Kmac [Pirete]

Sunday, September 30, 2012

Well, Kmac (Kristen McNamara) is one of my favorite singers since my teenager years, since then she changed her style and her hair too many times, but don't let her colorful hair fool you, she own such a strong personality and is in the business to rock, what I love more about her isn't even her amazing voice that makes my heart happy but her attitude, and how she don't let others pull her down and no matter what people say, she won't give up her dream.
If you are an amarican Idol fan you may or may not reconize her from season eight (when she goyt kicked off because judges seemed to be looking for a "barbie doll" not really a singer, I hate idol since then, because no one can convince me she didn't deserve to at least be at the finals, someday she'll be at the top and they will have to suck it)
It's pleasure to me to talk about this amazing person and singer here at my little space, and ask every one of you to please hear at least one of the songs from her album Pirate, and feel free to leave me a comment here, I would love to hear opnions.
From her album I think my favorite song is where you are because I can relate to this, but it is hard for me to chose a song by this lady, I am not a huge "POP" person, but Kristen strong voice sure knows how to make me hear to her for hours / days / weeks/ forever, non stop and never have enough of this.
You can buy her album on Itunes.
Have a nice week, thanks for stoping by.

[Music Sunday] Bears of Manitou

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Hi friends, music Sunday is back *in a monday* and my music hint for you is an amazing band called "Bears Of Manitou" they have this folk/rock style that make you want to listen on repeat, I downloaded their album from ITunes after Chanelle (remember the amazing singer from a few Sundays ago? Her!!) told me that it's her husband's band, I downloaded it at first just because I wanted to check on his band, as I love discovering new music but as I never heard of them before I was scared of to be throwing money through the window, because I got the whole album not only one song, but for my luck, I fell in love with it at track one and stayed in awe until track nine (and heard track six for hours on repeat).
Hope you guys like the hint.

[A late music Sunday] @IamChannel + weekend fun.

Monday, April 23, 2012

I know I'm late on this again, sorry friends (if someone is ever reading this) but my sunday was super busy with the fam + my beau. We spent the Sunday at my sister's house in a BBQ, I loved to spend some time with my family and beloved ones, I got my nieces a new pair of boots to each and today my sister told me they slept with it, it just made my day better. But let's go to what matters....

[Chanelle's pic credit @ her instagram]

My late music sunday, her name is Chanelle [dont ask me her last name] but she's on twitter and instagram over @iamchanelle, a friend of mines accidentally found her cover of Behind Blue eyes on YouTube and immediately texted me "OMG Lexie I found this one singer you gonna love" and dmed me her cover link, I fell in love as I heard it, so I decided to follow her on instagram ( it's an addiction) and I got surprised when I commented under one of her pics and 'introduced myself' thinking she would never comment back and think I was a little loco, but instead she was really sweet, and even said I made her day better, what made me glad because I love to make people's day better.
So, you know, talented + sweet + beautiful = perfect combo, so go check her out.

[Music Sunday] - Paula Fernandes Concert review

Sunday, April 15, 2012

Hi friends, I know I'm late on this but here it's, my last Sunday's Paula Fernandes concert review.
It's been one week today and the feeling is still surreal, I wish I could take the time back there.
So let's start from the start, it was around 6 pm when I came there to wait in line, I'm luck because there were not so much people, 2 hours latter (around 8pm) they opened the doors and well, it was the "run for your life" or at least for a good place, I got a place in the 2nd roll in front of stage, and next to the screen (on the half-price space, what means everyone from VIP was in front of me =/) well, 10:05 Paula made her entrance, it was simple still amazing, she was very sweet to the crowed, it was Easter so she made jokes about how much chocolate we ate and saying she chose wonderful people to spend her Easter with, after a few songs she told us she's going to release her next album sometime around may and June, as she brought all her tour stuff with her including her swing she got it on the stage, sang a song in it and chose two little fans (one girl, one boy) to sit in there as she sang "for them", she was bouncing around, joking, and dancing on the stage the whole time, during one of her songs she said that for that night she belonged to our town and it got really emotional, also she promised to come back in town, she changed clothes 3 or 4 times, after she sang the last song, said her thank you notes and said goodbye we started calling her back and she came back joking around and saying
"did you call me guys? We said, yes Do you want one more song? We said yes. She sweetly said: your wish is my command and I'm here to serve" so she sang one more before she left the concert ended around 12:20 am.
The whole concert was very emotional to me, I laughed and cried during it, I had so much fun and it was for sure one of the most amazing nights of my life, and I'll never forget it and about Paula, there's nothing I can say, she's the only Brazilian singer I can say I love. She's amazing in studio and even better live. Best concert I've ever been to, Paula is such a simple soul and loving person. I'm impatiently waiting for her to come back.

[Music Sunday] 5 questions with The Devious Angels.

Sunday, April 1, 2012

This week the music Sunday is very special to me, thanks to twitter I've got to know a sweet country duo a few weeks ago, I love to find new music and more than anything I love to talk to nice people that treat their fans so well, so I wanted to do something nice to the blog and give them a little promotion because they deserve all the best then I asked them if they could ask a few questions and they said YES, aren't them amazing, so here we go...

1. Where did the name "the devious angels" came from?
Our band name, "The Devious Angels", was thought up by smooshing Steevie's last name "Steeves" and my last name, "Decious", together. "Steevious" wasn't a real word, so we went with "Devious" and just added "Angels" because we thought it sounded cool. We tried not to think to hard about it. haha!

2. Did you guys have a career before the band?
We've both played in bands since we were teenagers. Steevie was in cover bands in Pennsylvania and I was in a rock band called The Pink Spiders and a country band, Dixie Whiskey, before starting The Devious Angels.

3. Who's is your biggest influence in the business, do you have any idols?
Our influences are all over the map! Any, and everyone, from Celine Dion to The Rolling Stones to Fleetwood Mac to George Strait!

4. Recently Joy Williams from the civil wars said "Piracy has it's drawbacks, but it also has positives"...do you agree?
Music piracy, like everything else, is a double-edged sword. Like Joy Williams said, it's got it's upsides and it's downsides. Definitely a long discussion that we couldn't possibly get into in such a short interview! haha!

5. If you had to chose, what would be your favorite song on your EP?
Collectively, our favorite song from the E.P. would be "Somebody's Somebody". It was one of the first songs Steevie and I wrote together and, overall, it just sounds so different and we love that.

Thank You so much to The Devious Angels for taking time to answer this. Wish you much luck and a few Grammys in a near future ;)

[Music Sunday] - Good and free music

Sunday, March 25, 2012

It's my first music sunday so I thought I would make it special, so I decided to post some good free music.
Free music is always good, for the fans ears and pockets but what about the artists? well, it's good for them to, with the huge amount of influence that internet is getting into what we hear now days, giving people something free to hear is a great idea.
We can see new artists and very known ones doing that lately, so I'll be posting my favorite free songs out there and maybe you will give a listen? you know... it's free and doesn't hurt and if you like you can buy their music.

1- The Civil Wars: They are very known lately, the country/folk/bluegrass/... duo composed by Joy Williams and John Paul White won two grammys and a billboard magazine cover in the last months, what not everybody know is when they started they first album before the awarded album Barton Hollow was a free live album called Live at the Eddie's Attic and you still can get it and their song Barton Hollow for free on their website

2- Alexz Johnson: Alexz Johnson is most known as Jude Harrison from the tv show Instant Star but after the show ends she have been releasing some really cool stuff. Last year Alexz decided to 'donate free downloads' of her song look at those eyes to a campagn then she released her new ep called skipping stone and you can listen to the whole thing on her website.

3. The Devious Angels: I don't have much to say about them, they are duo composed by a girl called "Steeve" and a boy called "Jon" they have really catchy country songs and are really sweet people, you can download their 7 songs ep totally free in the link posted bellow.

Links to download.

1. Live at the Eddie's Attic & Barton Hollow  click in the 3rd picture.
2. Look at those eyes & Skipping Stone stream
3. The Devil Angels EP

I will talk about each one of them seperately eventually.
have fun and enjoy the free fun
